Our President

Thirty years ago, with passion and purpose as her guide, Rita Tsang, our President and Chief Executive Officer, started out on a journey of discovery, one that has taken her and Tour East Holidays to the top of Canada's travel industry. Along the way, she has helped bring peoples and cultures together, has earned high praise from Canada's top business publications (Profit Magazine, Canadian Business, Globe & Mail) and honoured for her involvement in our community with the Order of Ontario, the highest civilian award presented by the province. Rita Tsang's leadership and commitment to excellence is the driving force behind Tour East Holidays. It's what keeps us on the road to success!

Tour East Holidays is one of Canada's most dynamic, respected and innovative travel companies. Founded in 1976, Tour East Holidays has grown from a niche Asia travel wholesaler to one of the nation's largest, most diverse and fully integrated full-service travel companies. Today, Tour East Holidays has offices across Canada as well as in New York, Beijing, and Shanghai and serves a growing and diverse annual customer base of approximately 200,000 around the world. Our Asian heritage, which puts an emphasis on hospitality and detail, has served us well over the past 30 years.

Our Services

At Tour East Holidays, we market travel services (airline tickets, hotels, specialty tours, transportation and logistics, meeting services) to individuals and organizations who wish to travel between Canada and Asia.

We also market similar global services for all Canadians of Chinese and Asian descent. Groups, meeting and incentive travel planning, management and fulfillment can be arranged for groups up to 5,000-plus.

Development marketing and provisioning of a wide portfolio of fully-inclusive, high-quality escorted tours in Asia, Europe, Latin America, Mexico, the United States and Canada. Wholesaling reduced rate and negotiated international air travel products and land arrangements to the Canadian travel agency community.



Our Successes

Helping organize some of the most important events in the world over the past several years has vaulted Tour East Holidays into the forefront of travel companies. Our in volvement and organizational skills helped make events like Hemophilia 2004 in Bangkok, Thailand, the World Dragon Boat Race Festival in Shanghai 2004, and the China International Fair for Investment and trade 2004 in Xiamen, China great successes.

Tour East Holidays has also helped arrange VIP trade and governmental delegations from various provinces within China to Canada. We have also organized meetings with provincial (Ontario and B.C.) and federal political representatives with VIPs from China.

1976 — Three young entrepreneurs, Shirley Chu, Rita Tsang and Andrew Tsang open the door of Tour East Holidays' first office in downtown Toronto.

1978 — Tour East Holidays is the first Canadian tour operator to arrange trips to China from Canada when China opens its door to foreign tourists. Later that year, because of Tour East's early success, the company becomes Canada's largest tour operator to China and Asia.

1980 — Tour East opens its first branch office in Toronto.

1981 — Tour East establishes an office in New York City

1982 — Tour East begins its rapid retail expansion across Canada and since has opened 12 more offices in Toronto, one in Vancouver, two in Montreal and one in Calgary.

1985 — Tour East's global sales volume reached $100 million.

1989 — Tour East introduces the wonders of Canada to Chinese tourists by launching inbound operations from China

1990 — Tour East's global sales volume reached $200 million.

1994 — Tour East successfully arranges a visit to Toronto by the European folk music group Musikandhal. The group's 4,800 members make up the largest inbound trip ever organized to the city.

1995 — Tour East's global sales volume reached $300 million

1996 — Tour East establishes its first Beijing office, acquiring both CAAC international air licence and CNTO tour operator's licence.

2001 — Rita Tsang, now Tour East's president and CEO, is voted ont of Canada's top three female executives in Profit magazine's annual Woman Entrepreneur of the Year poll. That same year she receives similar recognition from other well-known business publications like the Globe and Mail's ROB magazine, Canadian Business magazine and the National Post newspaper.

2001 — Tour East becomes the main sponsor of Toronto's Dragon Boat Festival, which has grown into Canada's largest ethnic festival.

2002 — Tour East Holidays launches its website and begins its online business division in earnest.

2003 — Tour East launches its Travel Journal show on television.

2004 — Tour East president and CEO Rita Tsang received the Order of Ontario, the province's highest civilian award, for her civic contributions.

2004 — Tour East launches its Chinese language website.

2004 — Tour East's president and CEO is elected to the board of the Royal Ontario Museum.

2005 — Tour East's global sales volume reach $400 million
